The Michaelsberg, which lies above the Untergrombach district of Bruchsal, is the highest point on the western edge of the Kraichgau with an altitude of 269 meters. Due to its lofty position in the Rhine plain, it offers an excellent view from the northern Black Forest over the Palatinate Forest to the Odenwald. The first site of a Neolithic culture that was named after this mountain in Central Europe is historically interesting. The hallmark of the “Michelsberg culture” is the typical tulip cup.

Today’s chapel was built by the well-known Prince-Bishop Damian Hugo von Schönborn in 1742. It is the successor of two previous chapels from the high Middle Ages and the year 1472, which were replaced by new buildings due to their dilapidation. The floor plan, the fresco paintings, the furnishings and the eventful history are worth mentioning.
