The Badische Spargelstraße was inaugurated as the 21st tourist route in Baden-Württemberg in June 1994. It initially ran from Schwetzingen to Bruchsal and was expanded in the following year. Starting from Schwetzingen, it first runs on the L599 road through Reilingen and then via Bruchsal, Karlsruhe, Rastatt to Scherzheim.
